The standard turn around time (TAT) for samples is 7-10 business days, with the exception of fresh products where the standard TAT is 1 business day.
EMA also provides RUSH services for our clients. Potential services available are: Same day TAT, 1 business day TAT, 2 business day TAT, 3 business day TAT, etc. up to our standard TAT. All rush requests must be approved by the Lab Director prior to the receipt of samples, and are subject to availability based on the nature of the matrix, the tests requested, and the current backlog of samples in-house.

Border Shipping Form: This form is required for all fresh produce being shipped domestically from outside CA.
Chain of Custody: This form is not required, but can be useful depending on your needs.
Selecting a representative sample and submitting it correctly are critical to obtaining acurate information from the analysis. At EMA, we take great care that our analysis is representative of the whole sample you submit. Deviation from proper protocols in sample collection, container selection, or handling can invalidate an analysis. For produce, it is important several portions are collected from different areas of the field, bin, etc, for compositing in the laboratory. These samples must be shipped in glass or plastic bags to prevent contamination during shipping.
A minimum of 200 grams per commodity per sample per test should be submitted. If less than 200 grams of sample is available, please contact us to assess whether we can perform the analysis with a smaller sample size.
For soils and waters, it is important that the samples be collected in clean glass containers or brass sleeves. Generally, 100 grams of soil and 1 liter of water are the minimum amount of sample required for each test requested.

Shipping Instructions:
To ensure that your samples arrive at the laboratory in good condition, please make sure that all meat and dairy products, water, soil, and previously frozen or refrigerated items are sent with either blue ice or wet ice in a cooler. For water, please cool samples to 0-4 degrees Celcius without any chemical preservation methods.
Dried products may be shipped at room temperature and without ice.
All samples should be shipped overnight to the laboratory.
